We were walking down the Colo from the Wolgan junction to Crawfords LO, and there was quicksand everywhere. I was carrying a long pole with me for getting either myself or my wife out of it - many times. You just . . . sink.

Found in the dunes above Marley Lagoon, Royal NP several years ago.
About 500m inland from the Coast Track, and much further from any other track or trail:

From a pre-lockdown walk earlier this year in Heathcote NP:

WA's been done before, but I think this is fairly comprehensive evidence of WA being more dangerous than Afghanistan.

I have a few of those in my collection. They seem to have proliferated since I was last over that border.

The sign is not too bad. The editing, however, is choice:

Years ago a person got too close to the edge of a cliff on the Snowy Plains in Victoria, fell over, and died. The parks agency put up signs like the above and a fence a few metres long at one popular lookout spot. The idea may have been that people would gravitate to the fence. There were literally miles of unfenced cliffs, no hazard if you are careful.

From memory this was at Loveland Pass on the Continental Divide in Colorado:

These signs have outlived their usefulness. Which is nice.

These are not so much 'interesting' or 'amusing' as '*&%$#! infuriating'. Interpretive signs at the (currently being flashed up) Devils Gullet Lookout.

First, the 'looking west' sign:


Going from right to left: yes, that's Ossa, Pelion East, Hyperion ... Cathedral? You can't see any part of the Cathedral plateau from here, it's hidden behind Clumner. What's visible between Hyperion and Clumner is the DuCane Range and Geryon.

Then, 'looking east':


Deception Point is now shown as an entirely separate ridge in front of Clumner, instead of protruding from its plateau. Massif would be about where it's indicated, hidden behind Clumner, but the sign makes it look like it's part of Clumner. And then Geryon is, supposedly, either another part of the Clumner hump or behind it - and east of Massif - and, given where that little dotted line goes, it looks more like the former.

The rest of what's on them is acceptable, but this overlap area is just so glaringly wrong and inconsistent one is tempted to do some corrective work with a few sticks of dynamite. And not necessarily just on the signs themselves.
