Seems like MYO has gone a bit quiet.

Is this because of difficulty getting raw materials, or just lack of interest/inspiration/“CoVid issues”?

My last projects were 2 rucksacks , adding down to a quilt, and various waterproof bags over Christmas/NY, for a trip fly fishing to NZ in Feb, but I’ve had no inspiration for other projects since then, as there haven’t been any trips planned (CoVid issue).

Being in Melb has meant no facility to plan any trips anywhere >5km, so no new gear needed For me, and no trips in the immediate future.

Even though I’m lucky enough to still be working as a GP, business is quiet (about 50% of normal) and this no doubt has an adverse effect on how I feel about life, but I’m more interested in the mental health issues that might be affecting the inspired producers of gear at home.

Personally, I’m finding it very hard to get inspired about much. I’ve always enjoyed lots of interests outside my profession, and thought I was lucky to have them, but our current lifestyle has really flattened most of them, as there seems little point in pursuing making a lot of stuff, coz there’s little use for any of it.

And no, I’m not depressed, just having trouble getting inspired!

Ted, if we’ve both given up on projects then we are all doomed!

I’m lucky to live within 5kms of the Yarra and Royal Park so I have taken full opportunity of exploring nature across these beautiful areas - although I’m missing being out in the country I’m keeping focused on the beauty around me. I’ve been making picnic things such as a small fabric picnic ground cloth - I’ve got some sil poly from Ripstop to make a water proof ground cloth and I’m making simple napkins and putting together picnic sets - yep it’s not hiking equipment but it helps. And I bought a second hand swag within my 5kms zone and slept in it in my small inner city backyard- it was lovely to be able to watch the stars from bed again.
