tent pole plug thing..

tent pole plug thing..

Postby wildwanderer » Fri 03 Sep, 2021 11:00 am

Thought the crafty people of the forum might know this.

I'm after a attachment for a tent pole. It's the plug with nail that is used to push into tent eyelets.

I need one for a pole with diameter of 150mm

It's the sliver plug in below photo.

Any idea where I could source? Looked at the tier gear website but couldn't see anything.

That's 6inches; a tree trunk
I'd believe 15mm for a bushwalking tent which is the 0.625inch pole.

Hey I like my tent poles to be strong enough to withstand anything ok...

but of course your correct. 15mm is the diameter of the pole.

If you decide to get what you need from TPT I need a couple of items, happy to split postage costs and sending them to me in Geelong can be done with letter rate postage by putting cardboard on both sides and sticky tape

Thanks MD.

Considering the long delays for US shipping for anything other than a $$$ courier at the moment I'm probably going to go with a backup solution. But if you or anyone else knows where they can be sourced in Oz I'd be keen to know.

Well I suppose you could buy an 8.6mm plug from Ansco and play around with glue/filler and such.

https://www.ansco.com.au/End-Plug-Tie-O ... ep340t.htm
Epoxy doesn't work too well with the alloy of the poles tho but silicon based Superglue might work, a bit fiddle as I think it might take 3 sleeves to fill in the space, I may have some thick walled aluminium tubing that might be a slip fit inside 15mm tube.

I reckon there would be folks around who have clapped out tents and poles with one of these bits. A FaceBook post on an outdoor gear or bushwalking page, a tip shop visit?
