Making a jacket bigger

Here's something I learned from an American forum. The emergency ditch-kit jacket I bought cheap didn't fit Cecile so a girth extension piece has been sewn up using the Goretex I had in my stash and some of the Taslan we've used for windshirts.
Two layer Goretex on the inside and the hard-wearing textured nylon to the outside. Cheap zipper from Lincraft as they were compatible.
I would not have attempted to do this as I have too much trouble sewing in zips let alone zips along an ogive curve. A small patch pocket for storage of the small LED torch and maybe something else and enough room added so the bumbag will fit underneath and not snag on anything.
A small D-ring stitched inside for a cord so the small torch doesn't get lost in the depths of the pocket. Makes a change from sewing hand bags and purses/wallets
