A place to chat about gear and the philosphy of ultralight. Ultralight bushwalking or backpacking focuses on carrying the lightest and simplest kit. There is still a good focus on safety and skill.

Forum rules

Ultralight Bushwalking/backpacking is about more than just gear lists. Ultralight walkers carefully consider gear based on the environment they are entering, the weather forecast, their own skill, other people in the group. Gear and systems are tested and tweaked.
If you are new to this area then welcome - Please remember that although the same ultralight philosophy can be used in all environments that the specific gear and skill required will vary greatly. It is very dangerous to assume that you can just copy someone else's gear list, but you are encouraged to ask questions, learn and start reducing the pack weight and enjoying the freedom that comes.

Packed Weight of Tarptent DW?

Thu 01 May, 2014 4:42 pm

Hey Folks,

Always weary of the difference between advertised weight and actual, I've noticed that one poster on here has listed their Tarptent DW as 1.3kg, where as the website lists it as 960grams - a substantial difference.

I'm considering picking one up but this discrepancy concerns me. So...

Does anyone have one? And if so, what is it's weight, lines, pegs and all?

There are a number of possible configurations (15 in fact) plus extras and accessories.

I have a Moment DW with solid fabric interior, extra crossing pole, both poles carbon fibre, two extra stakes and guys, and a Tyvek footprint. All packed in the stuff sack it weighs in at 1.31kg.

I just got mine and weighed it at 1030 grams, I've got the carbon pole and mesh inner, but it needs to be seam sealed. The tyvek foot print is about 120 grams, which need to be added, so once it's sealed, all up probably 1175 grams.
