Looks like Joe has found a way to make the Duplex tent into a free standing shelter. Not sure about using them in foul weather but it adds to the flexibility of this product for sure.

Thanks for the heads-up. Maybe it is just me but the pricing just seems fairly severe compared to say the Tarptent Pro Trail which I had been considering but then there is probably 300 grams or more saving with the Solarplex and less with the Duplex but with the advantage of a two person tent.

Something to think about for sure.

Oh BTW does any know the packed up size of the Solarplex or Duplex? I want to carry the tent on my bikepacking bike so packed length is important; this is one of the advantages of the Pro Trail at 30 cm.

Thanks
Andrew

Andrew - In the standard bag the Solplex is about 32cm long x 15cm diameter. There is still a bit of squish room if you wanted to compress it a bit more.

The Tarptent Scarp 2, as seen in Strider's avatar picture. https://www.tarptent.com/scarp2.html
It comes with the one cross pole and the option of adding two diagonal poles.

Comparison is a bit of a long bow in my opinion. 4 poles vs 2 for starters.

I agree with Eljimberino..apart from the fact the poles cross each other I don't see a lot of similarity.
