Tarptent Aeon Li

A place to chat about gear and the philosphy of ultralight. Ultralight bushwalking or backpacking focuses on carrying the lightest and simplest kit. There is still a good focus on safety and skill.
Forum rules
Ultralight Bushwalking/backpacking is about more than just gear lists. Ultralight walkers carefully consider gear based on the environment they are entering, the weather forecast, their own skill, other people in the group. Gear and systems are tested and tweaked.
If you are new to this area then welcome - Please remember that although the same ultralight philosophy can be used in all environments that the specific gear and skill required will vary greatly. It is very dangerous to assume that you can just copy someone else's gear list, but you are encouraged to ask questions, learn and start reducing the pack weight and enjoying the freedom that comes.

Common words
Base pack backpacking the mass of the backpack and the gear inside - not including consumables such as food, water and fuel
light backpacking base weight less than 9.1kg
ultralight backpacking base weight less than 4.5kg
super-ultralight backpacking base weight less than 2.3kg
extreme-ultralight backpacking base weight less than 1.4kg

The aim of the tent was to have a one pound one pole , side entry tent that could take a tall person.
Unlike most of the other TarpTents , Henry did not design this one for his own use but sounds to me that he has now convinced himself he needs one too.

Yep - I've just put my name down on the TT Aeon waiting list too. Now what to do with my LG Khafra DCF? (I guess I'll keep it for family hiking stuff...)

I also put my name down on the waiting list. Got an email at 6 am this morning saying it was back in stock, but I was sleeping. Got on at 8 am and it was gone! Knew I shouldn't had breakfast 1st.

They are trying their best to increase production but all of our tents are made by the same crew on one production line .

There is an extensive review at Backpackinglight but I think you need a subscription for that, for those that prefer watching movies and skipping the book, here is the video version :

Not sure if TT now have them back in stock but they will be taking orders for the new Aeon Li 2020 from June 22 for anyone that's interested.

yes TT does have stock at Nevada City . However since this morning (US time) when they started to take orders , more than half of the stock is gone.
I suspect that many of those were from people on the waiting list.
