Walking the Te Araroa North Island

Postby mickdog » Tue 06 Dec, 2022 3:51 pm

My wife and I are hoping to walk first part of the North Island to Auckland in Jan/Feb. It seems that many of the forest sections are closed and have been for some time with road walkarounds in place,

Has anyone walked it recently? Have a draft Itinerary?
Are there any good/recent blogs to read/follow?
Happy for nay information or referral to other sources,

We have walked the Bibbulman and Heysen Trails in Oz recently and are hoping to try this NZ long walk in sections.

You could check out the TA Facebook group, both the general one and the one for the current 2022/23 season. Lots of people currently walking the trail active on those groups and willing to share info.

As for blogs, the official TA website has a section called Trail Stories under the Welcome menu. Blogs of current and past walkers there.
