Overland Track walking companion Feb 4

Thu 09 Jan, 2020 9:26 am

Hi , I have a paid double booking for the Overland Track for Feb 4. I booked this with my best school mate but tragically he died following unexpected surgery. I promised his daughters that I would tribute him by completing this walk. I last did this walk 12 months ago and have completed it a few times. I can offer transport at the end of the walk ( I will have my car waiting for me at Cynthia Bay ) and am offering this walk to take the place of my old mate. I will not be asking for any payment ( except for a burger at the end )
Thank you

That's really unfortunate, losing a good friend is never easy.

Personally I'd love to do something like that. Sadly my work and family commitments wouldn't allow, in any case, best of luck.

(Interesting user name BTW, weren't those angry star trek tripod aliens?)

They were the only species that The Borg couldn't assimilate. Yes they were tripedal but could transform into human. My user name was either going to come from Star Trek or Monty Python.

I would walk it alone. Plenty of companionship if you want it on the OLT but finding some time to yourself, with a friend just recently lost, would be lovely.

Thank you Rexy. The staff at the visitor center handing out the track passes still issued one to my old mate. They usually would record as a no show but after I told them that I was honoring him on this walk they decided to issue his pass , something that has not been done before. I met up with some great walkers but at the end of the walk I was quite emotional. To your memory Rod. I was walker #33 Rod was #34

What a lovely gesture by the Parks staff.

I hope the walk brought you some healing.
