Walking in mid-May - buddy needed!!

Postby Otago11 » Sun 21 Feb, 2021 12:07 am

Hi all, I've booked two overland track passes for mid-May. I was meant to go with my sister but she can no longer make it, so now I'm thinking of either going by myself or trying to buddy up with others.

Should I go ahead and do it on my own? Or find a buddy? I'm 26 and have done multi-day hikes but this will be the longest I've ever done and am just a bit daunted doing it on my own. If anyone has any advice or would be interested in teaming up let me know!! Also if anyone has any tips on doing the walk alone I'd really appreciate it. Thanks in advance

Hey! Did you end up finding a buddy? What days did you end up booking? I'm a solo traveler and ended up booking from the 16th to the 21st and am now looking around for some other companions as I've heard May can be quite a bit. (Half the challenge though) This would also be the longest hike I will do.

Hey thanks for the reply, yeah I did find a small group to join! We are setting out on 12/05 but have planned for 8-9 days in case of bad weather. Might see you along the way or even at the start if you want to start earlier!

Hey Otago. A very excellent plan!! You could have a lovely time doing side trips via Pine Valley if you end up not needing to take the weather days. But you probably already know that. :D
