On the 10th and 11th of December I did the Anne circuit in fantastic weather. I left a bike chained to a tree and Condominium Creek and started the walk from Red Tape Creek.

Great shots doogs.
Any reason you went anticlockwise? I always thought pushing up against the scrub onto Sarah Jane would be harder than coming down through it.

I couldn't start the walk until midday and didn't fancy the 1000m relentless climb at that time of day. Luckily the muddy part crossing the plains wasn't as traumatic as I remember and the climb from their up Sarah Jane is only 500m, it was still a hot climb though. It also meant I would have the sun on my back between Lot and Anne.

One of the many advantages of being local. I've never had a bad weather trip in the SW.

I was a local for a few years too. I have never had a non-bad weather trip in the SW  (well - maybe a day here and there worked out ok).

I guess we're just lucky...?

Got me thinking so I went through some of my trips..

Frankland range, 7.5 days of sun .5 of a day of light drizzle
Western Arthurs 4.5 days of sun .5 of a day of light drizzle
Eastern Arthurs 4.5 days of sun.5 of a day of misty weather
Southern ranges 6 days of sun 1 day of bad weather
Sth Coast track 4 days of sun
SW cirsuit 7 days of sun
Mt Bobs 3 days of misty and some drizzle
Mt Anne (3 different trips) 7 or 8 days of sun.

This one particularly bugs me. Out of six attempts, I've had one day of sunshine, and that was with too much deep, melting snow between Eve and Anne to risk pushing to the summit. I can start in good weather and, despite forecasts, it will go to *&%$#! within a half hour.
Anne hates me . . . . :(

So my experience of 3/3 aborted summit attempts isn't so bad after all!

Great pics (especially Lots Wife) of my favourite place on the planet.
3 out of 4 of my trips have ended in abortion with 1 awwwwesome afternoon on the summit.
Itching to get back there soon.

I've done the full circuit three times and all of them anti-clockwise, the first time coming down via NE Ridge. The scrub up to Sarah Jane wasn't so bad.

Love your photos Doogs. You were lucky to get such good weather.

Nice.

I still don't know how you all manage the weather! :D

Here is a pic of Anne from near shelf camp last time I was there - this is pretty standard in my experience.

No, Anne can be done in good weather. And as soon as I upload the photos I can prove it.

Now I just have to work out how to keep the weather good enough for Schnells, Sprent and Shakespeare/Wylds.
