Some great shots there.
Glacier walks are some of the best things to do. We did a half day walk on the Fox Glacier a couple of years ago and by the end we wished we had signed up for the full day. Franz Joseph is next

Thanks
Great photos
My wife would rather we went to NZ than Tas for a holiday.
I suspect it will take some time to plan.
Do they provide any kit for the glacier walking?

When we went to Fox Glacier they supplied leather boots (you could take your own, they won't let you use sneakers though) along with some basic instep crampons, raincoat and a nice solid wooden staff. I'd guess that it'd be similar up at Franz Joseph.

Yeah they provided us with "waterproof" jackets and trousers, boost, crampons and woolen socks as well as a small ice pick. It was the only was of bad weather we got whilst we were over there and got saturated so the camera had to stay in the bag for the majority of the time which was a bit disappointing.

And they know how to manage tourism too.

Can you imaging turning up at say Ben Lomond or Cradle Mountain, and someone giving you a pair of walking boot and a walking stick and a rain coat?

We did the Fox Glacier heli-hike when we went to NZ a couple of years ago, it's one of the best things i've done, though we were only provided with boots and cramp-ons, but it was a beautiful sunny day.

Thankyou so much for these photos.
It all reminds me of our trip to NZ in 2006. The scenery is absolutely stunning isn't it?
I remember recently telling someone about how unbelievably blue the rivers look, whoever that was - see, that's what I was talking about!
