Gday all, I spent a couple of days up on the Tyndall Range over the show day long weekend (well long weekend if you live in Hobart and were smart/ lucky enough to take the Friday off as well ) unfortunately the weather really closed in on the second evening which pretty much concluded the photo oppertunities with high winds, rain, sleet and hail!! I was looking forward to sunrise above Lake Huntley but it wasn't to be gives me a good excuse to go back again anyway While having lunck relaxing on Mt Geikie a couple of Wedge Tailed Eagles flew past us which was quite magical as well.

The couple of photos I did manage to get!!

Wonderful shots! I particularly like the first I haven't made it to the Tyndall Range yet but it's on the to-do list...

I love that first one. How lovely to see those wedgies up close too. They are magnificent. That's the sort of shot that always leaves me wanting my 100-400, even if it does weigh a ton.

Thanks guys! Yeah the eagles were pretty spectacular, topped off by a great location Definantly a great little area to walk in. Lugging a 100-400 up there might be an interesting excersise on top of everything else, it's certainly a steep couple of hours with a full pack!

Hate those eagles. I never get photos of the Wedgies I see, I just stand there with my mouth gaping, staring at the things. Never have the right lens with me, anyway.

How'd you find getting out to Mt Geike? an interesting mt to reach as its all on a bit of a slant when you get nearer.
I'm keen to get up there again when the fagus is out, would be amazing.

Thanks. Yeah it's normally the way isn't it, luckily we spotted them coming towards us with enough time to put the 70-200mm on and fire a few shots off, but a bit more zoom would have been nice.

Thanks. Yeah it's an interesting walk, we followed the eastern side of the range which gave great views towards the Eldon Range and the peaks of the verland track which also means you miss the small patches of scrub, it's definantly more interesting the closer you get heading down into the saddle and then back up again. Yeah it would be pretty amazing when the fagus is in full colour up there.
