Melaleuca

I was lucky enough to have a quick trip into Melaleuca recently. It's a fascinating mix of wilderness and human history. The landscape itself is probably an Aboriginal artefact, caused by frequent small-scale burning over millennia. And the mining and other activities of the King, Clayton and Willson families are also evident. But it's still a wonderfully wild place, exemplified by being able to hear the pounding surf from Cox Bight some 10km away.

Lovely shots Ian. It looks as if you might have been near the new boardwalk that PWS is putting in (interpreting Aboriginal stories in the area). Did you get to see it? It starts near the airstrip and runs to Melaleuca Inlet and back to Moth Creek.
I'm hoping to get back in summer and walk from Mel. to SW Cape & back,

Didn't see the boardwalk when I was there, must have happened just after I left although I seem to remember a bit of boardwalk at the start but I was in such a hurry to get to the lagoon I must admit I didn't take a lot of notice.

WOW, that picture of Fedder is amazing! Makes me want to go there too when I really should keep to the easier bits for a while

ILUV - calm down.
I think this would have been taken through a plane window which appears to have some light effects in the view.
Pretty good shot given that sort of interference.

Since the Fed Peak shot was of interest, thought I'd share a few others with you.
