Logic and common sense would always lead to this however things are only just beginning to heat up. The lobbyists are working hard at UNESCO.

The Australian government through DFAT are attempting to sway poorer countries with a vested interest in having their own WHA's delisted such as Malaysia, Vietnam, Peru, Phillipines, Turkey, Japan, Korea and others to vote for the delisting as it will set a precedent they can follow. There are 21 member states on the committee. DFAT are also very keen to tie a members vote to influence in regards to membership of the TPP(Trans Pacific Partnership), do some reading on the ramifications of that little deal if you want your socks scared off.

In addition to this pressure the IPA(Institute of Public Affairs), right wing 'think tank' and unofficial Liberal party policy machine is also in their lobbying each member. The IPA is funded by some of the worlds biggest miners, forestry companies, pharmaceutical companies etc etc etc. The Guardian at least had the stones to publish a little of that.

So what can you do?

This. Personalise it a bit if you can and hope there are more member countries with conscience than without. It's a really big deal about a lot more than 74,000ha of our beautiful forests.

Thanks, that's from the Upper Florentine which is one of many threatened with de-listing. Here's a pic of 'Twisted Sister' just near the rally.

The bottom 2/3rd's of the landscape is the Esperance Forests below Adamsons/Esperance Peaks and stretching to the Hartz. All set for de-listing. As well as many others around the state, Butlers Gorge, Styx, Dove, Catamaran and more...

My main worry is that it will decrease the value of all world heritage listings as a whole. Especially considering what is being done to the Great Barrier Reef already.
