Will likely be in Tasmania during the summer months and interested in accessing the Pandani Shelf near Mt Anne for the photographic opportunities. Just wondering what the easiest way to access it is? Have read snippets of information which suggests it can be reached via the Mt Eliza Plateau, or by another (harder) route? Is there any sites or guide books with a good description of the terrain, track, duration etc for the easier approach? Can probably devote three nights to the area including hike in/out as well as time on the Pandani Shelf. Cheers

Chapman guide to the SW has info on Mt Anne, generally fairly good. Have never actually been to Pandani Shelf itself, but would think that you could go either via Eliza Plateau (easier) or via Northeast Ridge, which involves a bit more routefinding and scrub, from what I know of it. Should be plenty of info on both approaches on the forum. Beautiful part of the world, hope the weather gods smile on you whichever way you go!

Its left out of the guide books because PWS doesn't really want many people to go there, or at least they don't it to become part of the tracked area.
There is enough info on this forum if you search around.
I haven't been there but some others might able to PM you so we stay the right side of rule 24.

I did have a search on the forum and found plenty of references to both routes but little detail on the Eliza Plateau route which is apparently the easier of the two. Perhaps I just am not using the right keywords?
I'll check out that Chapman guide, and thanks for the info so far. Anything anyone can PM would be appreciated

I've PMed regarding the Sandfly Creek track, but the route from Eliza is pretty straightforward. Follow the track and cairns towards Anne until you reach the cairned summit turnoff, then continue following cairns to the left around the mountain. There are multiple options for the descent from NE Ridge to Pandani, the two major ones cairned.

True - but you will note that I've been deliberately vague with route descriptions. That's partly for the track development issues that've been raised (it's a very delicate environment), and partly for safety reasons. It's a harder-than-average walk, and you'd want to be confident of someone's experience and ability before sharing details. PMing is probably wisest here,
cheers
