Hotel in a glass cocoon by the cliff - Peru

Postby GPSGuided » Sun 19 Jul, 2015 12:01 pm

Amazing location and approach to a 'hotel' room. 3 cocoons hanging by a cliff face.

Probably too much public backlash on Cradle or Wellington, dare I say from here. Will have to scout a more secluded valley and cliff face.

Tasman Peninsula? Be fascinating on the sea cliffs.
Not sure whether I'd support it or not.

I suggest we trademark the term 'Stealth Pod'. I think it'll be a hit amongst the off-track lovers here and abroad!

Upon reflection I quite like it. The only worry is a rock fall and safe access.

I wonder if you can get submersible ones as well?

Safe access? I don't think this pod suits you. ;)

Stayed in the Skylodge a little while ago, and thought to update you guys on it.

The climb up 400m took an hour. We were harnessed and clipped in at all times, so there was no risk of falling off. There was a stretch of 20m tightrope we had to traverse at the 300m mark though, which was a bit tricky.

The capsules themselves were very firm and anchored in - it was a windy night, but the capsule didn't shake at all. Best night of sleep I've ever had.

Dinner was a three-course affair with wine, and breakfast included scrambled eggs. Route down was via 2km of ziplines.

For anyone wanting to do it - I'd highly recommend it. It wasn't scary, despite what I had thought beforehand. I'd recommend booking a night, rather than just climbing up and ziplining down.

I'd rather look at the cliff wall free of tourist detritus.
