Hi all,
First post on here - just thought I'd ask around because I've never really used maps before when hiking - I want to get some decent maps for the Alpine National Park and perhaps the Grampians. 1:25,000 would be best and must have grid squares suitable for the MGRS gps system.
Any help would be great.

You can get VicMaps 1:25000 and 1:50000 maps in hard copy from map shops, or A4/A3 versions online from
http://www.land.vic.gov.au/home/go-to-l ... aps-130000 and you can print those out yourself.
The maps you get will use GDA94, and a Grid Reference can be derived from these maps.
If you are unfamiliar with maps and grid references, John Evans has a good PDF guide here:
http://www.johnevans.id.au/Pages/Map%20 ... gation.pdf It details the information on the map used to derive the Grid Reference.
