How long did it take?

Re: Mt Alma

Longer than it should have, if we'd taken the route suggested to us about 4 hrs, took us closer to 7.

Cheers - judging from your photos a magnificent spot to look over toward Frenchmans.

We did get very personal with some of Tasmania's leafy friends along the way... constant offers of tea and biscuits from Mr Bauera, Mrs Cuttingrass and Dr Banksia meant that we were often stopping to accept their hospitality.

Yeh very funny Ollster!! They were very kind to us wernt they. How Alma loved us, didnt want to let us go easily, We could see the traffic whizzing past us only 100mtrs or so away, but that last bit was probably the scrubbiest of the day!
Thanks Nick, Only 2 I like are the last one with the shadow on the hill in front of Frenchie and the one of Gell.

Keen to have a crack at Gell... and that massive boulder field!

The road (with locked gate) we departed from looks like it heads back around to the NW side of Gell. I can't really see another way of doing Gell as a day trip apart from getting access to the road. I have a feeling it must be locked for a reason, probably dodgy bridges.

Yeh that'd be the route for sure!
I reakon even walking the road it could still be done in a day though, Doesnt look like you'd need to walk the road for too far.....
