Not Sulphur Springs (seems to be a multitude of those all over the place).
This trail does have "Sulphur" in its name.

This was a curious photo.
Given John's history I was thinking Yellowstone?
But I thought I should try a search on sulphur cliffs - but naw, they are not steep enough to be cliffs. What word should I use - hmm - try Banks.
So put in Sulphur Banks and up pops a spot in Hawaii out from Kilauea Visitor Centre in the Hawaii Volcanoes National Park

Excellent detective work eggs, Sulphur Banks Trail is correct. Yes, most of the NP is closed and still subject to ongoing eruptions from the crater etc. A far cry from hiking around much of the summit area, and even down into the outer part of the Halema‘uma‘u crater when I visited. Wouldn't want to try that now, https://www.nps.gov/havo/2018-closure.htm.

These lakes are rather special. The slopey blackish wall above one is actually ice.

No worries eggs, I assumed you were away somewhere. With thanks and acknowledgement to the person who posted this on flickr, likely answers the reason why the location is special:
"Miage lake is a so-called juxtaglacial lake because it is in direct contact with the Miage glacier..."
"This lake is dammed by the moraine ridges deposited by the glacier during the Little Ice Age (for the most recent ones). Depending on the level of the lake (which drains subglacially periodically), various ponds - also dammed by moraine ridges - are individualized. The color difference between these basins arise from density of glacial sediments suspended in the water column"

Follow a line forward from the end of his lens to find the fuzzy target subject. That plus the name of the NP will do.

How many places in the USA have bears? I have seen them in Great Smoky, Shenandoah, Glacier, Yosemite NPs and a few wilderness areas, Bob Marshall. Just not enough info in this photo.

We did see wolves on this trip in the same general area. Fair enough, higher resolution, and location is probably difficult without more background features.

Graham51 wrote:Okay, I think I can see a bear but where? Try Yosemite because I saw a bear there.

Graham was first with correct identification of the bear. Not Yosemite but that's probably the closest guess without checking the map. This was in the Lamar Valley in Yellowstone NP. We noticed this local wildlife photographer and became curious about what he was observing. It became obvious when we joined him. Below is a zoomed in shot. The bear was pacing up and down watching us but didn't seem bothered by our presence, and we kept a respectful distance (park regs are min. 90 yards). I assume it's a male grizzly, partly because it was huge - but it was also spring and many females would probably have cubs, and unlikely to be as tolerant. The photographer told us he'd been doing the same thing nearby a week earlier, when another bear walked up behind him. I carried bear spray and a bear bell on the rest of our Yellowstone adventures.
