Thanks Tyreless.

For those who like a mystery here is one from NSW to figure out. Some clues - There is a large body of water behind me and a smaller one over the dune just ahead. There is no vehicle access, and it would have been many years since "ticket machines" were used around here (if ever). To get to this general locality requires a walk of maybe 45 minutes by the shortest route, of which there are several options.

Is it South Coast (ish)?

And at night the wondrous glory of the everlasting stars.

That will do it, in the dunes behind Marley towards the lagoon. Odd place to find such a sign. Over to you puredingo.

Nailed it fat boy. A hot, heavy slog it was. 3 nights in the Bogong peaks between Christmas and New year. Not recommended.

Go ahead mate.

Yep, it's the Nattai. Can try and narrow it down if you like (hint: it's one of Sloss's crossings) or just post the next... don't mind either way.

Ummm, the valley seems to open up a bit and the river widen...so maybe mid way, the crossing before Colleys flat? If not I'll go back up stream to piggys, going by the rock face.but basically I don't have any idea.

Yeh from memory it's called "Tessa crossing". I just know it as the bit where you cross back to the east side after crossing briefly to the west to bypass some cliffs before Black Snake Meadow... maybe halfway give-or-take between Wanganderry Ck and the intersection with Nattai Rd.

Yep, on the Woni but not lake Eckersley. This location was used as an early through route from Sydney to down South way back in the day.

The reedy banks remind me of The Needles, which I think would also fit the historic description.

Thanks dingo. Not too far from my backyard(s) for my entire life, but only got around to walking down there about 18 months ago .

Where did I take this sunset shot with my phone in NSW:

Not in the Blue Mountains, quite a way south of there.

The name of the creek gorge facing this arena will do. Car camping and a popular village are among the facilities nearby.

Bundanoon will do. Amphitheatre lookout, more or less. Technically I'd wandered away from the lookout down one of the tracks.

With limited experience of the area it looks like it could be the Budawangs (I did buy Ron Doughton's book the other week with future trips in mind).
Not confident but I'll try either Shrouded Gods Mountain from Monolith Valley, or maybe Mt Nibelung.
