Hmmm, the route from the toilet 'goes' but yeh its vague, especially around a small clearing maybe 100 or so metres in (and yeh I seem to recall crawling through scrub to maintain alignment with the 'track'. Either way I think meets up with the old 4wd track, which climbs gently but had a fair amount of treefall when I did it. After a while you turn left onto a foot track up the spur proper, after which the walk becomes much nicerLLSC wrote:Hi PCV. Take the turn just after the bridge. It starts out as a well-formed vehicle track before degenerating. I have tried to find it from the track near the toilet but that track degenerates to nothing before too long.
Good luck . Please send pictures and report: can't wait to hear how it goes.

Literally facing up, while descending, so I couldn't fall downhill if I lost balance.
Also kept 3 points of contact as NNW suggested, and made it down fine.
Would have been funny to see my fat behind leading way down.
I was hoping after doing Bogong that I'd manage this, but not to be.
CraigVIC wrote:The Mt Cobbler circuit might interest you too, Baeng? In the same broad area, it is still a big walk but much easier than Helicopter with no real scrambling. The last bit to the true summit has a mild scramble with no exposure. Good views and a lovely (dry) camp.
