Day walk with pub finish

Postby Pumpkin Picker » Tue 24 Nov, 2020 6:18 pm

New to this forum. Keen to find a fantastic day walk with a finish at a good pub or accommodation for a bunch of mates that catch up annually. All from Hunter area so somewhere within reasonable proximity ie. Sydney, Blue Mountains, Barrington, North Coast. None have bushwalking experience so well marked and preferably with swimming holes etc along way. Appreciate any suggestions.

Thank you.

"Keen to find a fantastic day walk with a finish at a good pub or accommodation ..."

Technically, here in Australia, no Bushwalk is ever finished until you have reached the Pub.

Seriously, though, I would just plan a bushwalk with the distance and amenities you're seeking (swimming, views, etc), then figure out where the nearest Pub or Hotel is.

Some quick ideas - Spit bridge to Manly, Royal National Park coastal track finishing Bundeena/Cronulla, any of the walks around Katoomba finishing there or Blackheath or Wentworth Falls, Great North Walk ending Hunters Hill, Hornsby, Brooklyn or Patonga etc.

Wildwalks.com for ideas and track descriptions.

Thanks very much for your info. Great help. And too true....it’s not a walk without a thirst quencher to finish :-)

If they're not hardcore bushwalkers, may I suggest the track from Cowan station to Brooklyn (Hawkesbury River station) via the Jerusalem Bay Track. There's a great pub at the end (The Anglers Rest) with good food, and their rooms are unpretentious and not too expensive.

You could catch the train to Wondabyne (remember to tell the driver to stop at the station) and then walk to Patonga which has a flash pub/accom right on the water.

Then cab it into Woy Woy the next day and train it back home.. or get the +1's to drive down Sunday, go for a swim and enjoy a lunch at the pub.
