Thanks Stef, went from a vague recollection of visiting somewhere around there a lot of years ago.

The river and a much taller structure are close behind me. I wouldn't drink the water at this location though.

Thanks for the welcome I have been lurking for a while, couldn't resist when I saw the mines, I was only there Monday. The next item pictured is from the eighteen thirties.

Ah ha, I get you now John, the arsenic residue in the river? Back in the day while kayaking the Shoalhaven in that vicinity the usual practice was to scoop up a handful of river water when one needed a drink, ignorance is bliss haha. I recall that the gold extraction process at Sunny Corner involved cyanidation, I always explored around that area with some trepidation!

That's it Greg, there's a warning about it in one of the Robert Sloss guidebooks I have. Does a risk remain today? Who knows, but I'd probably seek water upstream in the vicinity of the mine.

For the current photo, that looks like Circuit Flat Bridge about 20 km up the road from Clares.

Right idea, but this one is in a much deeper valley higher in the mountains, not too far away.

being a Victorian who has only ventured into the Blue Mountains once in my life ( and as a tourist no less) , this is actually harder than you realise Mr John!!!

To keep the game Flowing, I'll give Empress Falls a shot.

Thanks for playing Greg. Not Empress but you are quite close and in the right valley.
Yes, I struggle with most of the Victorian ones for similar reasons. I would post more from there but I only have a very limited number.

I'll pay that, although I may be opening up a bit of controversy because I think this is Horseshoe Falls at Govetts Leap. Controversial because, firstly, I am not 100% sure where I actually took the photo and, secondly, because an internet search reveals some debate about the naming of falls at Govetts Leap.

Yeah, looking again I think Horseshoe Falls is a better fit. I think the top of the cliff to the left of the falls curves around a bit on Bridal Veil. I've abseiled that one, which was an interesting experience. I believe it's the longest single drop waterfall in the Blue Mountains, but Horseshoe can't be far behind.
