Does anybody have information or track notes on the North East Ridge of Mt Anne?
I have heard from a friend that it is the best walk in Tassie and would love to do it!
Unfortunately it is not a well marked track and I can't find any notes on it.
Obviously I'm not asking for details to be posted live for all to see as per forum rules but if anyone has any details they can PM me.

you'd be surprised at how well the track is marked actually.

There is even a log book at the start.
Its a sensitive area that I think Parks have been quite keen to not disclose information regarding the track.
However its not too difficult to locate the track if you're familiar with the area.

Which is why any discussion on the actual track needs to be done via PM to concur with forum rules.

What is the actual climb of Anne like from the ridge as opposed to the usual route? I suppose the actuall climb would not be too sensitive. Also interested in time differences and how to pick up the start of the track; suppose that needs to be PM'd though

There is a whole thread with tit bits on it about the NE ridge - including some photos which helps the understanding.
See
http://bushwalk.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=1679I actually logged onto the website using my Blackberry while we were up there at pandani shelf to try and understand a bit about the route down off the NE ridge.
It is actually quite a clear pad down into the forest a little back from where the ridge ends in the gaping chasm of Anne-A-Kananda.

I did read a paper that has been done in relation to the areas sensitivity; from the information in relation to the risk that hikers pose against the areas sensitivity, you can see that hikers have been somewhat cleared by basically saying they pose no real risk. Some areas are still best kept hard to find though in my eyes and I quite like the unknown element of this route.

The NE Ridge has interested me since i did an overnighter to shelf camp. Now with more experience and much better equipment, the time has come. Hopefully before winter sets in!! Any details regarding start point and time frame (return), pm'ed to me obviously, would be greatly apprieciated. Cheers Iain
