Didnt hurt until I sat down that evening.
Had a stumble and stupid 25kg pack pushed me in the back.
Tue 13 Jul, 2010 8:56 pm
Thats quite an impressive wound, I bet you got a nice little scar from that.
It looks like you are on Prion Beach with PB behind???
Tue 13 Jul, 2010 8:57 pm
And of course, that happened just when there was a nice jagged rock at just the right height to stop you going any further . . .
I've had some nasty trips and slips, but never hurt the head. Yet. Usually end up banging my knees.
Anyway, back to the photo. Is that a beach I see behind you?
Tue 13 Jul, 2010 9:03 pm
Yes it is, I was hoping someone who had been there and knows where I may have done it would have said, as it's a pretty dodgy area.
Coming down off PB thru the limstone caves that have alot of ferns overgrowing them just covering the holes nicely. BIG holes in the ground and I mean BIG! It's quite dodgy in places. I lost my feet down one and bang, limestone to the head.
AJscott (I think it was) on a trip thru there fell completey in one and dissapeared completely. The fellow in behind him got quite a shock.
I took a photo like this just to look at the wound, then I thought i'd take one with the culprit behind.

What are the caves like? Nice little crawls?
Tue 13 Jul, 2010 9:07 pm
One of them looked big enough to fall a fair way in....... enough to make me give it a fairly wide berth.
Tue 13 Jul, 2010 9:16 pm
Vertical access, eh? Too far to carry ropes and ladders. Bugger.
Tue 13 Jul, 2010 9:18 pm
You ever been sea kayaking? You could get all the way up to Cavern camp like that.
Tue 13 Jul, 2010 9:23 pm
Need a lot of good weather to get that far around. A nice big yacht out from Catamaran would be easier, then paddle up New River Lagoon.
So many things to do and places to go, so little time (and money) . . .
Tue 13 Jul, 2010 9:35 pm
Yes indeed! A person needs more than one lifetime.....
Yar Bap I still have a healthy scar on my head 2 years on, or is it 3? I forget now....
Anyway your up my friend

Gotta love a good scar.
Go Cadel.

My guess would be that you're looking straight at Stacks Bluff?
Wed 14 Jul, 2010 12:29 pm
Otherwise it kind of reminds me of Mt Olympus (nothern summit) from somewhere north of Lake Onone (spelling).
Wed 14 Jul, 2010 12:35 pm
From memory, the scree to the right of the pic is where you head up to the summit - if my memory is correct with it being Stacks Bluff!!
Wed 14 Jul, 2010 12:44 pm
You are looking at Ragged Jack from the north.
The high point is on the left of this photo.

Stu has it.
Wed 14 Jul, 2010 2:24 pm
Next - one of the best camp sites anywhere (IMHO).
Wed 14 Jul, 2010 2:26 pm
I second that notion. The next 3 nights wernt bad either.
Wed 14 Jul, 2010 3:29 pm
is it High Moor?
Wed 14 Jul, 2010 3:31 pm
Not High Moor - this site is far more spacious than there.
This site signifies the junction between 2 ranges...
Wed 14 Jul, 2010 4:16 pm
its gotta be between wilmot and frankland ranges, sorry cant get more technical than that
Wed 14 Jul, 2010 4:22 pm
That.s fine Frenchy.
It's just before Tribulation Ridge (in background).
Coronation Peak on the left.
We got this sort of weather almost every day for 8 days straight
Over to you...

Is this from Howells Bluff?
Wed 14 Jul, 2010 7:19 pm
I think it might be Mt Pillinger at the back.
Wed 14 Jul, 2010 8:10 pm
Actually I think this is from Big Gun Pass or somewhere close by. I know thats Mt Pillinger.
Wed 14 Jul, 2010 9:15 pm
Yes I knew I recognised that mountain in the background, the shot is taken at the outlet of Lake Helios, with the Northern edge of Mt Massif in the midground.
