TIP: The online Bushwalk Inventory System can help bushwalkers with a variety of bushwalk planning tasks, including: Manage which items they take bushwalking so that they do not forget anything they might need, plan meals for their walks, and automatically compile food/fuel shopping lists (lists of consumables) required to make and cook the meals for each walk. It is particularly useful for planning for groups who share food or other items, but is also useful for individual walkers.

With the interest shown in recent weeks in early Paddy Pallin bushwalking gear, I thought it would be of interest to scan my earliest Paddy Catalogue from around 1969-1970. ENJOY 8) (the prices especially!)

Thanks Tas-man, That is incredible gear. I think the wall tent and the explorer H frame are my picks. Cheers for posting this.

Beautiful . . . I do especially enjoy the tent named after an old Aboriginal word - the Karkampa. :D

Is it just me, or was this style of advertising already extremely old fashioned by 1969-70 ?

I'm sure it was - if you told me these were from 1953 I'm sure I'd believe you..

Young people and ladies will find this pack a good one.

Seems a shock to read copy like that and see pricing in Dollars, not Shillings !

I have my Paddy wall tent. Bought it c 1978. Still going strong. Not a sign of rot or deterioration in the fabric. First used it in the Western Arthurs the following year. No floor so you could pitch it over rocks and shrubs. They don't make them like that any more. they were still be advertised like that in the early issues of Wild Magazine. c 1983?

FWIW... being able to pitch over any ground is one of the reasons why folks give the tick to pyramids ... versatility is a great thing!
