calm down - we are only on page 2! There will be plenty more to come.
Though I might leave the ACT photos to you. :)

I don't remember those facilities at Bluff Knoll, but I was there 27 years ago...

Hi Eggs,

I am enjoying the game, loving the photo's posted so far, only 299 pages to catchup with the Tasmanian game, at the present rate it will only take us a year or so, come on Australia.

I have been looking at my ACT bushwalking photo's trying to find some easy ones, but I have to get another go before I can post one and that could be a while.

I'm going to have to dig up a few negatives I've got of some jaunts, so that I can be ready for when someone forefeits. Or, for when I get lucky with something I recognize...

Bugger missed my chance, the only alpine region of WA - I shot a short video on the climb up Bluff Knoll many years ago - I should dig it up and post it, one of my favourite jobs I worked on.
Nice walk it is too!

Okay, home from work now. This might be a bit hard so I'll give some clues if no-one gets it soon.

Now I think this is also from WA.
From Cape Le Grand National Park which is out from Esperance.
The mountain with the hole through its top is Frenchmans Peak

edit - Aghh - beaten to the draw - which is very good.

Re: Game: Where-is-it (Aussie) rule change

Postby Tony » Sat 26 Feb, 2011 2:21 pm

The "Where is it" Aussie game has started very well, to keep the game flowing there has been a change of the time the winner has to post before forfeiting, instead of 3 days (72 hours) the forfeit time is now 1 day (24 hours)

The "Where is it" game rules can be read here

Tony

Edit: we'll give Anne a little long to post because she won't know about the new rule change. wT.

Not sure how much anne was across the game concepts.
I have just pm/d her, but I know she has been looking around after her guess was confirmed as correct.
But now it is a weekend - which can slow things down anyway.

I think they're about right for now anne3 - we're only on page 3, maybe by the time we're on page 300 they'll be a little more obscure like the Tassie version.

Having said that, here's the next one

It is Wilpena Pound, of which one peak is St Marys - but this is not St Marys - so I am looking for the name of the peak on the right or some more description

Not Mount Boorong (I had to look that one up!)
The hint here is to identify the valley on the left - that should assist determining which side of the pound you are looking at.

I think you may be on or near a road to the east of Wilpena Pound looking at a range of peaks along its length on that side including Mt Karawarra, Binya peak, Mt Ohlssen Bagge.

I am not on the east side of the pound.
The valley on the left is the outlet of a rather notable gorge

OK so you must be looking at the outlet of Edeowie Gorge on the left? Therefore the foreground peaks along the range to its right would include Beatrice Hill, Sidney Hill, Harold Hill, Dick Nob, Walter Hill, Fred Nob et al?

You must be using a big map.
You have listed a lot of peaks along the west side of the pound - but there is only one from your list in view.

Yes - the outlet is Edeowie Gorge placing me to the north west of the pound - on the Leigh Creek road near the junction with the Moralana Scenic Road
I believe the 3 named peaks along this view are Reggies Knob, Beatrice Hill with Pompey Pillar on the right.
Pompey Pillar is a double header that is almost as high as St Marys and which I have had the fortune to climb on 2 occassions.
[Sydney Hill might be one of the lower foreground peaks?]

but over to you John

Thanks eggs, points for trying I guess . I'd guessed you more west than NW. Used this map:

http://www.maps.bonzle.com/c/a?a=p&p=3095&wnb=36728724&cmd=sp&c=1&x=138.54946&y=-31.58608&w=40000&mpsec=0

Wilpena Pound has been on my to do list for ages as I know it's a spectacular place. Looks like I need to bring that trip forward, if only to improve my geography!

Next one is in VIC and should be easy. Where is it and what's the name of the feature?
