Organ Pipes

Starting from The Springs picnic area on Pinnacle Road, Wellington Park, this walk leads past Organ Pipes to The Chalet and back, via the Pinnacle and Organ Pipes tracks. The track runs at the base of the dolerite pillars that reach about 120 metres high. The trail starts with a gradual climb through mountain bushland to the Zig-Zag Track/Organ Pipes junction. Continuing right, the track evens out and for the next 3 km and is mostly flat. This section of the track is the most picturesque, with occasional breaks in the tree line providing magnificent views of Hobart and the Derwent River. Further along, the impressive pillars that make up the Organ Pipes come into view. Continuing past the Organ Pipes, the trail meets The Chalet on Pinnacle Road after passing two rock spree sections. Return the same way or arrange a pickup from The Chalet. Toilets, day shelters and picnic tables are located at The Springs and Fern Tree, and there is a day shelter at The Chalet. Let us begin by acknowledging the Traditional Custodians of the land on which we travel today, and pay our respects to their Elders past and present.

Getting started
From Pinnacle Road (across Lost Freight Cafe), pass through the bollard and head into the woodland as you pass by the BBQ area with sheltered/non-sheltered picnic tables to your right, moving directly away from the cafe. Shortly after, turn/veer right to join the Radfords Track and cross the paved road to continue along Organ Pipes Track.....

There is water tap (about 10 m back from the start). After 30 m pass the picnic table (8 m on your left). Then pass the toilet (35 m on your right). After another 20 m pass the BBQ (10 m on your left). After another 9 m pass the shelter (10 m on your left).
	At the intersection of Pinnacle Track & Radfords Track veer right, to head along Pinnacle Track.
	After another 30 m (from the Pinnacle Track) continue straight, to head along Pinnacle Track.
	After another 130 m (from the Pinnacle Track) continue straight, to head along Pinnacle Track.
	After another 130 m (at the intersection of Pinnacle Track & Milles Track) veer right, to head along Pinnacle Track.
	After another 1.4 km (at the intersection of Organ Pipes Track & Pinnacle Track) continue straight, to head along Organ Pipes Track. Keep right. After another 670 m (at the intersection of Upper Sawmill Track & Organ Pipes Track) continue straight, to head along Organ Pipes Track.
	The starting point of an alternate access track. An alternate access from/to Pinnacle Road further north. Details below. After another 440 m (from the Organ Pipes Track) continue straight, to head along Organ Pipes Track.
	Continue another 1.1 km to find the end. Then turn around here and retrace the main route for 3.9 km to get back to the start.
