Getting started
From the front of the 'Visitor Centre', this walk follows the footpath that then leads through the middle of the car park, to find the pebblecrete footpath and 'Banks-Solander Track' sign on the far side. This walk follows this sign along the narrow (1.4m) path , timber boardwalk then dirt track as it winds through the dense forest for nearly 100m to find a seat just before the road. The walk then leads up the rise to then crossing (taking care) Cape Solander Drive to the intersection marked with a large 'Yena Trail' map sign.
Continue straight: From the intersection, this walk follows the 'Banks-Solander Track' arrow gently uphill along the gravelly trail for about 50m to find a 3-way intersection marked with a small 'The Banks-Solander Track' plaque (with a narrower track on the left).....

	Start. There is a toilet (about 50 m back from the start). Seat (about 40 m back from the start). Seat A series of four timber slat bench seat, 44cm high, 32cm deep and 1.8m wide with no arm or backrest. The seats are outside the visitors center. Visitor Centre (about 35 m back from the start). W:botanybayeec.nsw.edu.au Find the Visitor Centre at the start. Visitor Centre This visitors' centre can be found on Cape Solander Drive, inside Kamay Botany Bay National Park. It provides great information about the area's history and environment, plus there is a souvenir shop, where some simple food and drink is also available. A Trailrider is also available for free hire for people with limited mobility. There is a male & female toilet block on the eastern side of the Visitor Centre. And a large parking area in front. After 110 m find the "Seat" (on your left). Seat A timber bench seat, 54cm high, 20cm deep and 1.4m wide with no arm or backrest.
	After another 10 m (at the intersection of Yena Track & Cape Solander Drive) continue straight, to head along Yena Track (a vehicle track). After another 35 m head through the bollard.
	The starting point of an alternate route. An alternate route via the Banks-Solander Track. To take the alternate route turn left here. Details below. After another 25 m (at the intersection of Yena Track & Banks-Solander Track) veer right, to head along Yena Track.
	The alternate route finishes here. Turn sharp left to rejoin the main route at the 400 m waypoint. Details below. After another 215 m (at the intersection of Yena Track & Banks-Solander Track) continue straight, to head along Yena Track. After another 155 m (from the Yena Track) continue straight, to head along Yena Track. After another 80 m (from the Yena Track) continue straight, to head along Yena Track. After another 540 m head through/around the gate.
	After another 10 m (at the intersection of Cape Solander Drive & Yena Track) veer right, to head along Cape Solander Drive (a highway\|tertiary). After another 10 m (at the intersection of Yena Picnic Area & Cape Solander Drive) veer left, to head along Yena Picnic Area (a vehicle track). After another 245 m to find the car park. This car park is wheelchair accessible.
	After another 345 m (at the intersection of Cape Solander Drive & Yena Picnic Area) turn right, to head along Cape Solander Drive (a highway\|tertiary).
	After another 85 m (at the intersection of Muru Fire Track & Cape Solander Drive) turn left, to head along Muru Fire Track (a vehicle track). After another 40 m head through/around the gate. After another 60 m head through the bollard. After another 285 m (from the Muru Fire Track) continue straight, to head along Muru Fire Track.
	The starting point of an optional sidetrip. An optional side trip to Houston Lookout. To start this optional side trip turn right here. On returning from this side trip veer right when you get back to this intersection. Details below. After another 55 m (from the Muru Fire Track) continue straight, to head along Muru Fire Track. After another 80 m come to the "Kurnell Lookout" (75 m on your left). After another 8 m (from the Muru Fire Track) continue straight, to head along Muru Fire Track. After another 165 m (at the intersection of Muru Fire Track & Cape Solander Drive) continue straight, to head along Muru Fire Track. After another 65 m (from the Muru Fire Track) continue straight (a service road). After another 10 m pass the "Commemoration Flat" (20 m on your right). About 50 m past the end is a toilet.
	The end.

An optional side trip to Houston Lookout.

	Continue another 0 m to find Houston Lookout at the end. Turn around and retrace your steps back the 315 m to the main route.

An alternate route via the Banks-Solander Track.

	At the intersection of Banks-Solander Track & Yena Track Start heading along Banks-Solander Track (a walking track). Find the Seat at the start. Seat A timber bench seat, 54cm high, 20cm deep and 1.4m wide with no arm or backrest. After 235 m find the "Seat" (on your left). Seat A timber bench seat, 41cm high, 20cm deep and 1.3m wide with no arm or backrest.
	Continue another 80 m to find at the intersection of Yena Track & Banks-Solander Track at the end. At the end of this alternate route, rejoin the main route.

- Kamay Botany Bay National Park alerts
  Closed areas: Area permanently closed - Skylight Cave
  Skylight cave is permanently closed to visitors due to serious safety risks. The cave is mid-way down an unstable cliff, and the risk of falling off the cliff edge while trying to reach it makes it very dangerous.
  There is no approved public access walking track to Skylight cave. Please do not risk your safety trying to reach this location.
  
  Closed areas: Cricket Pitch carpark and amenities
  Contractors will be demolishing and replacing the amenities block at Cricket Pitch and upgrading the carpark from mid October 2024 to February 2025. During these construction works the precinct will be fenced off and work crews will be on site.
