Safety alerts: Unpatrolled BeachDangerous swell conditions are forecast for the area over the Anzac Day long weekend.
NPWS recommends swimming at patrolled beaches between the red and yellow flags at the following locations:
- Birubi Point
- One Mile Beach
- Fingal Beach
Please do not swim or enter the water along the unpatrolled beaches on Tomaree National Park and Worimi Conservation Lands. These beaches include:
- Zenith Beach,
- Wreck Beach,
- Box Beach,
- Samurai Beach and,
- Stockton Beach
Tragically, people have drowned while swimming at several locations at these beaches.
Many of the beaches are remote, unpatrolled and have dangerous rip, currents, unexpected large waves and sudden drop offs. Ocean conditions can change rapidly.
Mobile phone service may also be limited. You may not be able to call for help if you need it.
We want everyone to enjoy their visit and to return home safely.
Other incidents: Tomaree Head - Wet Weather Safety AlertTomaree Head Summit Walk lower section can be very slippery in wet weather. Visitors have fallen over on their way down the mountain. Please take extra care on the lower section especially during or after wet weather.
Closed areas: Lighthouse Keepers' Cottages Ruins site closedThe Lighthouse Keepers' Cottages Ruins site is closed to pedestrian access for public safety reasons. Please do not enter the site under any circumstances.
Penalties apply for non-compliance. For more information, please contact the local office.
Closed areas: Box Beach carpark night closureBox Beach carpark is closed to vehicles from 10pm to 5am daily. The gate will be locked during these times.
The Box Beach access road is also closed to vehicles during this period.
