You will probably be waiting just as long for the track to reopen beyond Kappa Moraine. The Cracroft area was hit pretty badly.

It's a concern of mine too. I have some unfinished multi-day exploration to do in Central Australia, but by the time I'm able to go I might be less able to carry such a heavy pack.
