Frenchmans Cap - late August 2013

Postby Peaksnik » Fri 06 Sep, 2013 10:20 am

Got as far as Barron Pass Wednesday (28 Aug). A beautiful blue sky day. Frenchmans Cap was well and truly snow-capped. I spoke to a party of two who had tried to summit that morning and found chest deep snow on their ascent too hard to grapple with and abandoned the attempt.

Photo just received:

I read their tale in the Tahune logbook and saw where they turned back. From the summit on Monday 2/9 :)

Great shots SBS. Any problems with the ascent in snow?

No pretty easy, mostly firm. Good fun bumsliding down :)

Excellent shots SBS - my jealousy knows no bounds. We ran out of time - too old and slow
No doubt we'll have another go at it but need to contact Essendon's high performance unit to get some advice about appropriate supplements.
