Gday all,thinking of heading into lake Sydney/Mt Bobs for a look. Looked at old threads and spoken to a few people who have done it a while back but keen to hear from anyone who's been in during the last couple of months re. Track condition. Cheers

It's been over 12 months since I've been in, but I wouldn't expect it to be any different. The track is not maintained by parks, and unless a walking club has been through, nothing would be different. Expect mud, and a few trees across the track. It is easy enough to follow though. Fantastic views from the top if you get good weather!

Cheers pazzar, have done farmhouse to fedder a few times so know what sort of terrain to expect,was interested as to whether anyone had retaped any of the forest sections going in or pads from the lake,there were suggestions in previous threads that may have been the case

will be nice to make the left hand turn that has been so tempting on the times I've passed it heading west! Thanks for ur advice,cheers

I went in a couple of months ago. Somehow we missed the turnoff and added a couple of hours to our trip in. The track up to Lake Sydney had tapes here and there. A couple of places we had to hunt for them but on the whole it was easy enough to follow. Plenty of trees etc across the track to give you a good full body workout. We camped down near Pine Lake as Lake Sydney was so full the only places to camp there were the dirty, muddy spots in the forest.

I just got back from Mt Bobs this evening.
First, after my trip there in October 2013 I was amazed at how easy it was to find the turnoff from Farmhouse Creek track. It was also pretty easy to follow the track to Lake Sydney.
Second, what really amazed me was the sinkhole. In October the water level was well up into the bushes and I couldn't understand how the route guides suggested following the shore to the Western end of the lake. This time we came to a deep, green area with a small creek running down to the sinkhole. One of the best camping areas I have encountered. On the first morning I got up early to take a few photos and saw a quoll chasing a wallaby on the edge of the forest'
Yesterday we went to the top of Mt Bobs. We found the route up very difficult to follow and ended up doing a lot of scrub bashing both on the way up and on the way down. Sadly, at the top, we didn't get any views. We left them for the young man who was heading up this morning.
Overall it was a good full body workout (someone I work with warned that you needed to be a gymnast to get up there) but it was pretty worthwhile even without the views.

I was up at Lake Sydney 10 days ago, was a very quick trip so alas no time for Bobs. Pretty easy to follow the track from the turn off all the way to Sydney, though the usual mud in a few places. There's a couple of different colours of tape, in a couple of forest sections you might have to have a bit of a look around for the route, but can't really go wrong. Weather was grand so shame about not having the time to get up Bobs, but the view from the little knobby point on the way up to Sydney was stunning.
