My hiking buddy (Brisbane based) and I (Melbourne based) manage to get away for only one (family and work commitments) 5 day/4 night hiking trip to Tasmania each year.
Trips so far:
Walls of Jerusalem
Circuit around Cathedral Mtn with a side trip up to Chalice Lake
Mt Anne Circuit clockwise
We fly-in on the morning of day 1 (Hobart or Launceston), drive to trail head and need to get to the first camp before dark. Day 5 also has the reverse time pressures.
For the next trip, Plan A is Southern Ranges (Pindars, PB). Due to the logistics we will get out there regardless of the weather and need to have Plan B, C, etc.
Any suggestions would be appreciated. We are both ex (old 50's) experienced hikers and rock climbers, and are comfortable with exposure, enjoy rocky terrain and prefer ridges rather than hikes in vegetation and mud. The Western Arthurs viewed from Mt Lot look amazing but probably need more time.
Thanks
