This is all I have to show from my huge investment so far. So far a very expensive piece of string and rings.

Just got back home from work, Was kind of hoping that I would find a package waiting for me, No luck nothing. How long does it take to send something from the states? Got a couple of big hikes coming up next week. Sure would have been nice to have used the Hammock.

Still the online tracking indicates it has not left the states. Not impressed supplier taken one week to send something that was in stock, particularly when I was told it would leave straight away. and when it did not, was advised on the Friday and still was not sent, Queried again and was informed the following day, still was not sent. Not happy chappy here.

Would not have purchased if I known product was not in stock and would not be sent straight away as was said it would. I suppose he got his money. so it's not a problem anymore. Dealt with business like this in the past. Promise you this and that and than don't deliver. People like that *&^%$#! me off.

Had to get that of my chest. People rave on how great the service is, so I thought I should share my great service experience. If I was informed from the start, it would take a week before being sent, I would not be so disappointed now, than again I would not have purchased. Probably Would have waited the week before giving my hard earned money or purchased something else.

USPS has been a bit slow lately, usually 2/3 weeks max. Are you sure it has been posted what does it say on the tracking? I believe they can register an article pending postage with USPS without actually having posted it.. you probably want to start asking for a receipt and for them to look into it in another week or so. Be unusual for it not to arrive at all. As others have said, the tracking appears to have changed (a look at the USPS seems to say so), they may only be giving delivery confirmation... as you'll know when that happens anyhow, its not much help is it...

I've made 3 separate orders using USPS. Two placed on the 15th July. One from whoopieslings.com the other is this order from Warbonnet. Both these orders placed on the 15th have not arrived. Both of these orders, online tracking indicate the items still at the states.

I placed another order with Whoopieslings.com on the 19th. That order indicates on the track and trace that the items left the states for Australia on the following day and that order turned up 6 days ago at my door.

What does this tell you?

It tells me that the orders placed on the 15th has not left the states. That's what I read out of it.

Your correct, indeed they can send a notice that item was sent with a tracking number without the item being picked up. This is what happened to me. I received a paypal notification that the warbonnet order left on the 18th or 19th July, but it did not get picked up from supplier till the 21st or the 22nd. I have no proof of this. I am only going by what the supplier told me, the usps online tracking did not accept my tracking number till the 21st or 22nd, up untill the 22nd no items was listed for that tracking number.

The order that left on the 19th from whoopieslings.com only taken 8 days to arrive to me. It was only a couple of strings with O rings, a cheap order. The other two ordered on the 15th, total cost over 600.00.

I think what they do. is this:

I've noticed after doing some research that USPS offer a free pick-up and a paid pick-up service. The paid pick-up service, the items get picked up immediately,

The free service, only get's picked up when a truck is in the area, they don't have a scheduled pick up time. Only get's picked up when truck is in the area doing another pickup or delivery. It could be weeks before the truck is in there area.

If you do a lot of reading on hammockforums.com, you will notice a lot of buyers all appear to get there orders on the same day, In the last couple of days, a lot off warbonnet hammocks have been delivered to US addresses on the same day.

Personally, I think this stinks and a bad business practise. If it was my business I would pay the extra to get the items delivered asap, as each order comes through. It's not like the hammocks are super cheap, they actually cost a lot.

I know, I need to be more patience. I'm normally a very patient person. So long I'm kept informed and not giving the run around like I have with the delivery dates.

I'm certain eventually the orders will turn up. It wouldn't surprise me if the order has only just been picked up in the last few days for delivery with all the other orders I've noticed that's turned up in the states in the last couple of days. So for this reason, looks like I'll still be carrying my Hilleberg tent with me on the upcoming one week hike I've planned.

I been having some bad experiences with freight of late. The Aarn Bodypack I won on Ebay, Took two weeks to get the seller to send the thing to me after I paid him within 5 minutes of the auction ending. I could have driven there and picked up the pack myself, it was only a 4 hour drive away. It was not till I called him at home, before I could get him to deliver, still took a couple of calls. Kept saying he sent it, when nothing turned up. Had to threaten with legal action. The following day I had the pack turn up on my door. I've noticed some of the straps was cut. and there was pieces inside the pack. Had to order some replacement parts from Aarn in New Zealand. Got the parts in the post yesterday.

As Nuts mentioned, USPS have been slow lately.

If it helps stop your concern, I had a parcel sent to me from the US via USPS (Priority - 6-10 business day delivery) on 13th July. Right up until yesterday morning (the last time I checked it), the tracking suggested that the parcel hadn't left the US, however it showed up on my door step yesterday lunchtime.

Thanks Jellybean, It's good to know, the online tracking cannot be relied on. Hopefully this week all will turn up and I'll be a very happy little chappy, hanging from two trees in my brand new Hammock, under my brand new Camo Superfly with my Goose down Under Quilt under the hammock to keep me nice and warm. Sounds like heaven. Can't wait for this day.

In anticipation of my BB hammock, camo Superfly and 3- season Yeti turning up in the post any day now, I need to start contemplating what am I going to use for my footbox area, seeing that the 3-season Yeti is not a full length under quilt.

Been looking around town, but all I can find is the normal width foam padding in the local outdoors store, from what I have read so far, the standard width pads are not wide enough. I don't know what to do about this one.

Ah don't worry your on the right track.
A normal width piece of CCF pad is going to do just fine for your feet.
Go buy a cheap one and "Attack" with a knife and cut to size

I have cut mine to be long enough to go to the bottom of the footbox in my TQ and overlap the end of the UQ about 3 inches. (I think it's about 550mm long but the Yeti is a shorter UQ that the Phoenix/Crowsnest, you might need a little extra length)
Width if you put the CCF into your footpad only needs to be minimal. Mines 500mm wide at the UQ end and tapers down to about 350mm at the foot end. Put a half depth cut down the middle of the pad and fold in half for an easier fit into your pack if you like. I just fold mine and slide it into the water bladder part of my pack.

It's personal prefference as to having the pad in your TQ footbox or out on the outside or the TQ. I just find it stays in place a lot easier inside the TQ and is always under my feet that way.

6-8mm works fine for me down to about 2°C under my feet / lower legs, under that and I go to a 10mm CCF. That's just me though, try some yourself.

You need the extra width only if using a pad for your shoulders unless your feet are wider apart That would be really odd looking.... Think hobbit maybe ???

I found a 1 cm thick, two layer 60 cm wide pad at Big W for under $15, after getting sticker shock with the price of the Clark Rubber EVA foam. After some previous trials with cutting cheap blue pads into various sizes and shapes, for my latest version I've cut the Big W pad into a trapezoidal shape (not to scale):

Hopefully this will fit just right in between the layers of my WB, and give good coverage beyond the end of the UQ. That's a very good idea forest, with placing the foot pad inside the sleeping bag, I never thought of that.

I'm going to use my sleeping bag as a top quilt, only zip up part of the way.

I did take a look at Big W a few weeks back, I did not notice any pads in the local store. Will go take a look in the next couple of days.

What about those cheap silver car shades you can purchase for a sun visor on your front windscreens, as a foot pad?

So I am not sure if this hammock has been listed here yet but I bought a Clark North American hammock with rainfly and tree huggers.

This is a seriously well built and impressive hammock. I have made a couple of setup changes including rappell rings and the like. I can setup the whole thing in less than 5 minutes. It warm, waterproof, breathable, and light (considering you can take this into the snow!).

Highly recommended if your looking for a 4 season hammock.

Thanks, Was considering one of these hammocks, prior to ordering the Warbonnet blackbird hammock, I'm waiting on, hopefully will turn up on my door.

My concern when in storm shelter mode was condensation. I believe the fabric is made out of non breathable material.

How strange is the fact it's not left till now. Where has it been sitting from the 19th of July. USPS must have had a bad day, because another order from another supplier is missing. I've just filed a dispute with paypal for the missing package. Was considering doing the same with the Warbonnet order, till I saw the latest online tracking.

I just hope and pray it all turns up before I leave for my one week hike. I think I'll be pushing it.

Hi Phil,

This is EXACTLY what my tracking information said right upto and including the day the package arrived at my door. As mentioned many times now, the USPS tracking system information is not very accurate. Concentrate on the part of the information that says "The item is currently in transit to the destination" because that is exactly where it is - somewhere between the Sort facility in San Francisco and your address!

Looks like, US Customs might be the culprit with my hammock still not arriving. Was stuck at the customs I believe for almost 3 weeks before it was released. I believe it's on it's way now. Should be here in a weeks time, I hope. If so, I will receive just in time for my one week solo hike. Fingers crossed.

The order I'm waiting on for all my lines and whoopieslings are no where to be seen, it's coming unto 4 weeks now, since that package was picked up for delivery. According to tracking it's still at the states waiting to be processed. No chance they will be here in time now for my trip. Will have to go up town and purchase some lines to use on the fly.

It would be interesting to find out why US Customs held up your order ? I've heard of Aus customs crashing the party on Down gear but not US customs being the culprit... Anyway hope you get your gear together for the trip.

Waiting on my hammock (warbonnet), my underquilt (hammock gear) and some line and clips (Dutch) - all different suppliers - ordered about the same time as yourself. They have been in transit for weeks.

Something must be going on (maybe Gerry Harvey is on the USPS board ;^) ) as USPS is normally 7 - 10 days for me.

At least I have my hennessy and a neolight as an alternative

Hi Shawn, the waiting is terrible. Yes, it's very strange. One of my orders, ordered 4 days later than the first two orders, turned up at my door two weeks ago, I don't know what's going on. In the past I've had items turn up in 4 days to my door from the states, most of the time one week the most.

I've actually placed a item not turn up dispute with paypal for my whoopieslings, only to hurry the process for a refund so I can reorder if the items don't turn up, from what i understand paypal refunds the money after a investigation, as that order left almost 4 weeks ago from the states. Paypal disputes is a long process, basically once you open a dispute, nothing is done for 20 days from the date the dispute is lodged. I would figure if the item would turn up it would arrive within 20 days from now. And after the 20 days if item don't turn up, paypal will than investigate, adding more delays. But this did not go down to well with the sender. He didn't like it one bit, got to say, I'm surprised with the reaction I received from sender.
