City View Track, Acron Oval

Starting from Acron Oval car park on Acron Rd, St Ives, this walk leads you across the oval then through a turpentine forest to a rock platform with views over vast bushland to the tall buildings of the Sydney CBD. This short and mostly flat walk leads along the wide track through the tall forest and is a perfect walk if you want to bring a dog (on leash). The walk leads to a set of unfenced rock platforms, at the top of these cliffs you can enjoy the distant views over the canopy to the Sydney CBD (on the left) and Chatswood CBD (on the right). Retrace your steps to return to the car park. If you are feeling more adventurous and want to explore more, there are series of narrower & rougher tracks that radiate off this walk. The rock platforms are a nice quiet area to sit and enjoy a snack. Always stay at least full two body lengths back from cliff edges. Let us begin by acknowledging the Darramuragal people, Traditional Custodians of the land on which we travel today, and pay our respects to their Elders past and present.

Getting started
From the Acron Oval car park on Acron Rd, St Ives, follow the concrete footpath from the bottom of the car park then turn left to head away from the clubhouse. Soon you step down onto the grass that leads steeply down the grassy hill to then follow the fence line to the far side of the oval (past the storage building) to then head through the gap in the fence marked with a blue 'Dogs must be on leash in this area' sign. Alternatively, there is a mostly flat and no-step access option by turning right and following the footpath gently downhill and to the far side of the clubhouse. From the back of the clubhouse, you can follow the grassy driveway onto the oval, then head across the oval (veering to the left) to find the signposted gap in the fence. Head through the gap in the fence and past the 'Southern Brown Bandicoot' information sign, then continue straight along the track to the rock platforms.....

	Start. Find the car park at the start. Find the toilet at the start. This toilet is male, female and equipped with a hand-washing basin. Find the shelter at the start. Find the picnic table at the start.
	Turn left. After another 8 m pass a seat (on your left). The pass three more similar seats. This wooden seat is 2 m long, 42 cm tall, 44 cm wide, has no armrest and has a backrest.
	After another 50 m continue straight. After another 90 m head through the bicycle barrier. This barrier is 1.2m at the entrance then requires a 90 degree turn to pass a 1.1m gap. After another 9 m pass the "Southern Brown Bandicoot" (on your left).
	After another 20 m continue straight.
	After another 80 m continue straight.
	After another 35 m veer right. After another 20 m come to "City View". Viewpoint is a rugged unfenced platform at the top of a cliff. Take care near all cliff edges.
	Turn around here and retrace the main route for 370 m to get back to the start.

Naturally Accessible
Slope summary:
The edge of the oval has a steep grassy embankment on the car park side, there are concrete steps in front of the clubhouse if you prefer steps over the slope. For a flat entry, follow the alternate start instructions that lead down the concrete path to the far end of the clubhouse from the car park then across the oval. The rest of the walk is flat.

Surface summary:
The walk across the oval is less than 150m, on a flat mown grass surface. The main bushwalk starts after leading through the chicane barrier in the fence with a 1.1m gap. The walk then leads along a well compacted natural sandy mostly smooth surface for about 180m to the rock platforms. The rock platforms have natural steps and jagged uneven surfaces, the rock platforms also slope towards the cliff edge. The rock platform would not be safely accessible for many people in wheelchairs or for people with less agility.
