Anniversary & Basalt Lakes

Starting from the visitor centre in Wilson Botanic Park (aka Berwick Botanical Gardens), this circuit walk pivots around Anniversary and Basalt Lake, passing by Hoo Hoo Lookout Tower and Alex Macleod Bird Hide along the way. Anniversary and Basalt Lakes offer a family-friendly trail through Wilson Botanic Park (aka Berwick Botanical Gardens). The mostly unsealed tracks provide stunning views of natural scenery. Along the track, there are plenty of turtles and rabbits, and the bird hide allows you to spot some exciting water birds. Additionally, there are toilets, a café, a playground with heaps of shade, and water fountains available to visitors. With a variety of track options, visitors can spend hours exploring without backtracking once. This haven in the city is a perfect escape for those looking for a scenic walk or a place to relax and unwind with family and friends. Let us begin by acknowledging the Traditional Custodians of the land on which we travel today, and pay our respects to their Elders past and present.

	After another 35 m turn right, to head along Lakeside Walk.
	After another 5 m (at the intersection of Lakeside Walk & Pinetree Walk) continue straight, to head along Lakeside Walk. After another 225 m pass the shelter (on your right). Then pass the toilet (15 m on your right). After another 20 m pass the picnic table (15 m on your left). Continue straight, to head along Lakeside Walk.
	After another 35 m continue straight, to head along Lakeside Walk.
	The starting point of an optional sidetrip. An optional side trip taking you to Hoo Hoo Lookout Tower. To start this optional side trip turn right here. On returning from this side trip turn left when you get back to this intersection. Details below. After another 80 m continue straight, to head along Lakeside Walk. After another 15 m pass the artwork (5 m on your left). Turn right. After another 40 m continue straight. After another 20 m continue straight. After another 35 m continue straight.
	After another 30 m turn left. After another 90 m come to the end.

This little side trip takes you to Alex Macleod Bird Hide.

	After another 55 m turn left. Then come to "Hoo Hoo Lookout Tower". The end. Turn around and retrace your steps back the 190 m to the main route.
