Mount Brown Summit Loop

Starting from the Gate 3 car park at the end of Richman Valley Road, Quorn, this circuit walk takes you to the summit of Mount Brown via the Heysen Trail and the Mount Brown-Olive Grove Trail. The walk takes you past Waukarie Falls to Mt Brown summit. Take some time at the top to soak in the view from the lookout tower and read some information boards about Robert Brown in whose name the tower was built. All junctions are clearly marked, and there are usually printed walk brochures in the metal box at the trailhead. The track is relatively easy for the first couple of kilometres through the valley, and then a relentless uphill trek begins. Sturdy shoes are recommended, as some sections of this hike involve scrambling over rocky surfaces, which may become slippery after rain. Let us begin by acknowledging the Traditional Custodians of the land on which we travel today, and pay our respects to their Elders past and present.

Getting started
From the car park at the end of Richman Valley Road, head towards the dense hillside woodland following the direction of the road, along the fire track. As you’re following the track veering left, it will split into two tracks in about a 100 metres from the start. Keep right and join the Heysen Trail to continue along Mount Brown Summit Loop.....

	After another 490 m turn left, to head along Heysen Trail.
	The starting point of an optional sidetrip. The side trip to the summit of Mount Brown, providing you with panoramic views over the land. To start this optional side trip continue straight here. On returning from this side trip turn right when you get back to this intersection. Details below. After another 4.4 km (at the intersection of Heysen Trail & Mt Brown-Olive Grove Trail) turn left, to head along Mt Brown-Olive Grove Trail.
	After another 1.1 km continue straight, to head along Mt Brown-Olive Grove Trail.
	After another 7 km veer right, to head along Mt Brown-Olive Grove Trail.
	After another 50 m come to the end.

The side trip to the summit of Mount Brown, providing you with panoramic views over the land.

	After another 840 m come to the end. About 45 m past the end is "Mount Brown". Turn around and retrace your steps back the 840 m to the main route.
