Hardest one I've climbed, I tied a rope around myself and a huge boulder on the other side, and basically mounted the slab, got very personal with it if you know what I mean.....glad there was no-one about, wasn't exactly elegant!

Frenchy, no idea, maybe it's the trig on Wedge?

nope not wylds but not far on the traverse line from Wylds trig. its a shame to see the old trigs not maintained, if sharp rocks out at brighton can be considered heritage so should trig points

Yeh agreed.
Speaking to someone who knows a guy who is a surveyour, and apparantly he isnt happy about them getting ripped down! Seems they still occasionally (rarely) use them.

Hmm not far from the traverse line,.... ? ? ? phew, well done Dan. Been to Wedge twice, you did it in whiteout and I still couldnt get it...

I wish i'd seen you on bonds BTW..... I must remember to take a rope when I get up there..........................

off the top of my head, need a map to check, the traverse line would go wedge - meuller-field west-wylds, with interconnecting between them. yeah i still use trig points when i can there are alot around hobart visible most of the time. I believe that even if they are not used they still should be kept there. the story of how they were made and coordinated is really interesting (for some!) a lot of hard work done by the surveyors. the beacon on Mt gell has blown down

Sorry, are we talking about Bonds Craig, beacuse I don't recall that summit being very hard at all??
It is easier to go down a hill than up, but the view is much better at the top.

Not difficult to get to the summit block but the last 2 metres to the tippy-top is along a very exposed slab which leans to the South and East and if you fall you don't stop for some time, does require some commitment to say the least. If I didn't have a rope I would have turned away....

...and some people could argue this is really part of Cathedral so I reckon it's over to you Bap if no one else jumps in to object! It was actually a tricky little scramble to get out there, especially with the rocks all covered in ice.

No I wasnt referring to the guess, just the Bonds remark. Maybe you are not worried on exposure and found it simple. Have you been to Fedder??

I wasn't convinced it was looking south, it didn't look like Lake Judd to me, and I would see a bit of Pedder looking south.

This one is really easy - I need to take some more challenging photos.

Nice try ILSWT but there's no dolerite in the Dial Range. I'm no geologist but I think the Dials are made of similar conglomerate rock to Roland, Black Bluff and Valentines. Up here, the closest Dolerite gets to the coast is Cradle Mt, the Great Western Tiers or the NE peaks like Albert and Victoria, etc.

What have you got down in your nick of the woods that has a skinny spit of land like that in the top left of this pic. It almost looks like the Sorell Causeway or the Bruny Island isthmus.

I'll take a punt on it being taken from Mt Wellington with a heck of a lot of zoom looking down over the Channel to Bruny Island.

True TT. I thought it was the causeway at Sorell at first, but theres barely a hill down there let alone a mountain like this!
I think you might be right though, could definatelty be the neck at bruny, thats some serious zoooooom :)

thanks for the geology lesson, Conglomorate yuk.... yuk yuk yuk yuk

Edit- Possibly from Thark Ridge on Wello?
